BEIJING,chat sex nh?t b?n Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- A spokesperson for the Chinese mainland on Friday condemned Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities for bullying a mainland college student online.
The student, a member of a delegation of mainland students and teachers who recently visited the island, was targeted by the DPP authorities, together with certain media outlets and the island's cyber forces, for calling the regional baseball team "the Chinese Taipei team."
The term is entirely appropriate as there is only one China, and Taiwan is a part of it, said Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.
Although the two sides of the Taiwan Strait are not yet fully reunified, the fact that both belong to one China has never changed, Zhu said.
Under this pretext, the DPP authorities attempted to intimidate organizations engaged in cross-Strait exchange, exposing their adherence to a separatist "Taiwan independence" stance and their predisposition to incite cross-Strait confrontation, she said.
"They fear closer interaction and friendship between people on the two sides of the Strait. They fear that the people of Taiwan will come to understand the real mainland, and the sincerity and goodwill of their compatriots here. They fear that their carefully fabricated lies will be exposed, and that their strategy will lose its effect," she said.
The mainland will make wholehearted and diligent efforts to enhance the kinship and mutual well-being of people on both sides of the Strait, and deepen mutual understanding, she said.
Zhu further warned the DPP authorities that any attempt to obstruct or sabotage cross-Strait exchange and cooperation is destined to fail.
