The Japan Foundation Los Angeles, 5700 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 100, Los Angeles, will screen “A Story of Yonosuke” (160 minutes, 2013), directed by Shuichi Okita, on Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m.
Yonosuke (played by Kengo Kora) arrives at university in the late 1980s, a time when Japan is booming and the economy is raining cash. Hopelessly naive, and hopelessly self-confident, he comes to the big city and annoys and charms everyone in equal measure, but his good nature brings him romance and a loyal group of friends. The next 20 years find him following the winding road of contemporary Japanese history, filled with twists and turns.
The cast also includes Yuriko Yoshitaka, Sosuke Ikematsu, Ayumi Ito and go Ayano.
In Japanese with English subtitles. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHpKWhMWoNA
