Dance practice began on Friday for the Nisei Week public ondo, under the direction of choreographer Madame Sanjo Kangiku.
Practice be held Tuesdays and Fridays, July 23, 26, 30 and Aug. 2, from 6:45 p.m. at the JACCC Plaza, 244 S. San Pedro St., Little Tokyo. Everyone is welcome to come and participate.
For this year’s dances you will need two flags (U.S. and Japan), or two?sensu(folding fans).
Dancers will perform at the 73th Nisei Week Japanese Festival’s Grand Parade on Sunday, Aug. 11, starting at 4 p.m., and at the ondo street dancing and closing ceremony on Sunday, Aug. 18, beginning at 4 p.m.
