Divorces are ?? ??? ??often difficult affairs, but they can be even more difficult for children.
It's why Victoria Baldwin and her ex-husband Adam Dyson have promised to come together every year to carry on their tradition of taking a family portrait with their son Bruce.

"We are not in love, we don't always agree, we're not best friends, sometimes we don't even like one another," Baldwin wrote in a post on the Love What Matters Facebook page.
"But you know what we are? We are forever connected because of our beautiful, smart, kind, compassionate, funny son."
Baldwin told CBS News the decision came after they were less-than-harmonious during their separation, and realised their bickering was hurting their son.

"We had a heated discussion in front of our son, who sat crying at my feet," she told the news outlet. "And I realized the next day I was more focused on hurting his dad than I was on comforting Bruce crying. I knew that wasn't the example I wanted to set."
So she booked a portrait session with her son the day after, and asked if her ex-husband wanted to be part of it. He joined along, and that's how the tradition continued.
Although they've received plenty of supportive messages, some commenters online have suggested it'll stop happening once the pair find different partners.

"We both agree we'll continue it," Baldwin told the news outlet. "We think a step-parent or longterm partner would be welcomed and would be an addition to Bruce's life. I have ended potential relationships because they questioned intentions or the quality of Adam and my relationship."
And really, at the end of the day it's all about having a respect for one another -- no matter the circumstances.
"We aren't romantic, but we respect one another. I won’t be with someone who wouldn't accept that," she added.
