ROLLING HILLS ESTATES — The Peninsula Center Library, 701 Silver Spur Rd. in Rolling Hills Estates, will host a “PV Stories” reception and screening on Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
In August, 12 community members were selected to participate in a California State Library-sponsored digital storytelling project. Over the two-day workshop, these individuals — many of whom had no previous video-making experience — wrote, narrated and produced short films out of their stories.
Each film has a run time of less than 5 minutes. From stories of the original farming families on the Peninsula to the devastating effects of wildfires, each video tells a unique story. Naomi Hamachi, one of the participants, created two videos, one about her mother and another generally about farming on the Peninsula.
Light refreshments will be provided. For more information, contact Monique Sugimoto at (310) 377-9584, ext. 213 or visit www.pvld.org.
The Palos Verdes Library District is a nationally recognized, award-winning library system serving all four cities on the Peninsula. It collaborates with the community to create environments for learning and inspiration, and to share the unique history of the Peninsula. PVLD is an independent special district governed by a publicly elected Board of Trustees.
