“Mare Ibrium (Sea of Rain),” a mix of theater, dance and spoken word, will be performed on Friday, July 31, at 8 p.m. at California Plaza, 350 S. Grand Ave. in downtown Los Angeles.
Jointly conceived by conceptual artist Hirokazu Kosaka and butoh dancer Oguri in partnership with Grand Performances, this installment of the experimental “Mare” series opens with the primal sounds of the hunt and closes with a look towards the cosmos; a kinetic spectacle suspending time and space.
This performance is supported by the James A. Dolittle Foundation.
California Plaza parking rates are $8 (cash only) starting 90 minutes before evening Grand Performances events. The garage is best accessed from Olive Street between First and Fourth streets.
As an alternative, take the Metro Red or Purple Line, and exit at Pershing Square Station. Exit the north escalator leading to Fourth and Hill streets and walk one block to the bottom of California Plaza (Fourth and Olive streets) and take the escalator up to the Plaza Level.
