GARDENA — Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute is порнограф 2004sponsoring an exclusive Calligraphy and Movement Workshop on Saturday, Aug. 30, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the GVJCI Hall.
In this one-time only workshop, KAZUKO takes a unique perspective and approach on the historical and cultural background of calligraphy and its relationship to other forms of art. Students will enjoy this exciting new exposure to the art and technique of calligraphy. KAZUKO will demonstrate with authentic tools and incorporate Japanese poetry, dance movements and music. She will start with the most basic strokes, and then bring in her original stylized strokes and movements.
KAZUKO has been teaching this unique course since the fall if 1998 at Santa Monica College Continuing Education, where it has been very successful and popular. Now for the first time, she will teach an abbreviated version at GVJCI.
You will have a brush and ink to take home so you can continue practicing your calligraphy. The registration fee is $30 per person. Preregistration required by Wednesday, Aug. 20.
KAZUKO has had an extensive performing career as a lead dancer, choreographer, and director of Japan’s Homura-Tomoi Modern Ballet Company. Her talent has enabled her to perform on concert stages, in theaters, and on television in both Japan and the United States. KAZUKO’s expertise has also allowed her to teach master classes at colleges and universities. She has been teaching KAZUKO Modern Ballet classes for children and teens at the GVJCI for almost 40 years.
KAZUKO is also a notable calligrapher who studied under her uncle, a prominent calligrapher in Japan. This ability combined with her background as a dancer has allowed her to develop her unique approach.
