This way the emergency responders can get their health records in a hurry. And could also be super useful if anyone else in the population is unresponsive when an emergency strikes. It can also be used as a medical ID, so anyone in the population can benefit from the wristband.
The wristband has a Near Field Communication (NFC) wireless chip inside of it. It contains each person's unique patient ID, which can be used to access all of your medical records. Medical professionals just have to tap into WRIXO with an NFC-enabled smartphone or tablet, or scan the QR barcode on the wristband, and they'll get access to all of the information they need.
Some of the information responders will be able to see is if you have any allergies, which diseases run in your family, your emergency contacts, and what your blood type is. All you have to do to update your records is tap into your wristband, log into your account, and make any changes you'd like. The updated information will become available immediately after you save it.
Anyone who accesses your account can also see prescriptions that your doctor has approved, images of X-Rays and MRIs, and medical notes. Just invite your doctor to upload the information into your account and it'll be ready when first responders need it.
And you don't have to worry about breaking any HIPAA protocols with the wristband and associated app. Each user chooses exactly what information they want to choose before doctors upload any of it the WRIXO cloud. On top of that, emergency responders and doctors have to put in their cell phone number in order to receive a temporary PIN number before getting access to your information.
This ensures that the people who need to see your health records have access to it, but no one else will get their hands on your records.
The wristband can also help with refilling your prescriptions. All you have to do is take a picture of your prescription and fax it your local pharmacy from your smartphone. It'll be ready for you when you need it.
The product was launched by internet security company Idol Memory on IndieGoGo this Tuesday and comes in blue and pink. It's waterproof, durable, and requires no batteries or recharge. You can snag one wristband and one year Standard Edition iCloud service for $19.99. Orders are expected to ship this November.
