The Los Angeles branch of Sogetsu School, which has about 100 members, held its annual ikebana exhibit May 31 and June 1 at the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center’s George J. Doizaki Gallery in Little Tokyo. With “Watashi no Hana” (My Flower) as the theme, members expressed themselves with 40 arrangements made from a variety of materials. Many of them, such as Hoboku McDonough’s work (pictured above, at left), towered over the visitors.
